The Dragon is one of the most respected animals in the Chinese Lunar calendar, and is celebrated on this 2012 Lunar Year Of The Dragon Three Gold Coin Set. The set consists of a 1 ounce coin, a 1/4 ounce coin and a 1/10 ounce coin, all bearing the design of the Dragon. Each one carries a numerical face value, as well as a fine gold content of .999.

Only 3,000 of these 2012 Lunar Dragon Gold Proof sets will ever be minted. This is particularly appealing to collectors who have birthdays within the years of the Dragon, which are 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012. Featured in the obverse design is the Dragon, a majestic creature in Chinese culture. The fierce animal holds a pearl of wisdom in his claw before a proof, mirror-like background. Beneath him is the Chinese symbol for “Dragon.”

A traditional design appears on the reverse; a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Most Australian coinage features Her Majesty's effigy. The Queen is surrounded by inscriptions of her name, the country, the weight and purity and the denomination.
